They can use weapons but seldom bother. They have the effects of an Amulet of Skepticism (+4 IQ to disbelieve illusions and resist Control Animal, but a -2 reaction from all humanoid races), and their brains ($30 each) can be used in place of a zombie's eye for this enchantment.

All variants tend to be carriers of the swamp fever and all bitten by (or worse yet bite into their uncooked flesh) must make a 4/ST save 1d6 days later or suffer the effects of Hallucinogenic mushrooms and suffer one hit per day until they make that save against their current ST.

I'm thinking it ought to be a general fugue, with a saving throw when under stress or have enemies appear to image duplicate or something.
