Re: Art for games
I'm making some (simple, cartoony) minis for an upcoming GURPS DF campaign. Here is the bard character, Edward. Here is about a third of the party. I am almost done with the swashbuckler character. After that, just 5 more (good guys) to go! I am sort of looking forward to doing the orcs and bugbears and hobgoblins and stuff.
edit: Got another done: Swashbuckler (Sydney Swann; anyone get the reference?). Now we can have a proper marching order. Last edited by Dammann; 07-09-2012 at 05:30 AM. Reason: more pics |

By the way, that bard shares the name, and most of the appearance, with a certain spoony bard... |

Re: Art for games
I'm using Sculpey to make these. I might go back and apply a wash to make them into more respectable minis, but I am not even sure how well they'll hold up in use. I will probably make molds for the bad guys, so that I can kick out numbers at a respectable rate.
FF-style chibi has certainly influenced these minis (although calling them minis seems somehow disrespectful toward painted miniatures sculpted by experienced professionals and painstakingly painted by dedicated hobbyists). Our Ed the Bard is named for a mathematician, IIRC. I cannot produce any results that make sense for that (Edward Ian Cullengard, anyone?), and the others call him Edward Cullen anyway. edit: Oh, forgot to mention, these are about two inches tall (except the halfling), to match 1" = 1 yard GURPS scale. |

Re: Art for games
They are nicely done, and I'd prefer something like that to the typical 25/28/30/32mm that's dominant in the market.

Re: Art for games
Thank you! I would offer to make these for other people, but I fear they would ship poorly. I need to set aside some time and finish the party/ make some adversaries.

Re: Art for games
I've done a fair amount of Fimo stuff many years ago, but never knew about Sculpey; it probably postdates me. Another thing that might be interesting to try (it won't produce figurines, but it would be very solid stand-ups) would be shrinky dinks.

Re: Art for games
That's a really good idea. I cannot express how often, making these, I've wished I had a 3d media that I could sculpt and shrink.
