I've seen bowling ball cannons in action at the Longs Peak Scottish Irish Highland Festival in Estes Park (they shoot the balls at an inflatable pool toy that looks like the Loch Ness monster, floating out in the middle of a small reservoir), but I've never even heard of something like that at a church social. :)

It is that anti-theft spell from the Lestrange vault in "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows".

Number of years back I was at a maple sugar shack in rural Massachusetts. The waiting area had posters for various local events including the local gun club's kielbasa shoot. .... I had questions....

The stuff that dreams are made of, maybe? :)
They are eggs, of course!

TIL that salmon cannons are also a thing.

(To get them over dams.)

Secret documents being leaked! Are spies around or is it just a disgruntled gamer?

Rogue oysters threaten to disrupt Tokyo Olympics after officials shelled out $1 million for repairs

Worth it for the headline alone.

Quote:
Tokyo Olympic officials are closely monitoring the waterway where canoeing and rowing events are to take place for an unusual threat: rogue oysters.

[...]

An infestation first came to light during a trial event in 2019, shortly after the venue was created. Equipment floating in the water suddenly began to sink, prompting crews to investigate what was weighing them down.
Probably a Deep One protest at being excluded from aquatic events.
