Default Relocating Area Spells

After casting an area spell, can a mage move the area of the spell to another location?

I'd say not by default, unless the spell specifically has rules for moving it around. I believe Thaumatology has optional rules to allow you to take a penalty and pay some additional FP to add an Enhancement to a spell - in this case you'd be looking at Mobile (B107).

Yeah, definitely not by default. There's a Meta- College spell (Displace Spell, Magic p124) for that.

There's a perk called Area Spell Mastery that allows it for one spell.

Thanks for the hint.
I looked it up and it only allows to modify the area it was originally cast on. For example to insert holes. But not to move it as a whole.

Yes, thank you! That seems to work!

I must have misinterpreted that spell. Because I already knew it, but I had the impression that it didn't work the intended way. Through your hint and re-reading it is now clear!

The only default option I know of is that when it comes to pay FP cost to maintain an area spell you can choose to not pay it for certain hexes and let it end there but not other places you pay for.

This can't let you affect new regions though.
