The Aztec "death whistle", an instrument made from a human skull that produces a sound like the screams of the damned source of the instrument. Perhaps used by the Aztecs as psychological warfare in battle or in sacrificial ceremonies.

Oh wow. I was checking it out just to arrogantly confirm how much archeologists will hear and see what they want to. But that thing really does sound like human screaming.

Certain types of brain cancer develop faster the more the victims think. What if there's a tumour that grows more with particular patterns of thought? What if people can be made to believe that there is?

Beware that this listicle is a listicle, about weird stiff on Wikipedia, but the one about this odd, continuous, creepy, radio broadcast is the one that caught my attention.

From looking at the link location on that second one, that's the one that has been hypothesized as the Russian nuke deadman switch signal? Where if it ever shuts down it's supposed to launch the entire Russian nuclear arsenal?

And more Russian strangeness.

A family stranded in the taiga for 40 years.

I'm sure they could be slipped into a dozen different settings.

51% of all Americans believe storms can affect cloud computing.

Two stoned Canadians call 911 because they can't find their way out of a bush.

I love these news. They make me feel like a smug European.

Organiser of a Total Dictation [i.e. one meant for anyone] has a tough talk with the Prosecutor's Office on accusations of having connections with Grammar Nazis, being financed by them, and maybe having willingness to get rid of grammatically under-educated people.

Sounds like an IoU plot.

I liked the comments, especially from "Blade in Dude's Head". On the other hand, with that grasp of what a "grammar Nazi" is, I'm surprised the guy wasn't charged with trying to overthrow the government - his group is called "Total Dictation", after all, which kind of sounds like "Totalitarian Dictator"...
