1,2, or 4
I'd think that 3 or four main ones with another four side options and the possibility of an "alien of the week" is probably what we want. The ability to subtly turn the enemy species diversity up and down is probably a good thing.

1, I'll stick with my original suggestion.

Unless I've miscounted, currently 1 and 4 are tied, having three votes each. 2 has two votes, and 3 has one vote. The poll remains open, though if it's still tied when I check tomorrow, I'll use my tie breaker.
EDIT: I'm breaking the tie: 4 wins.

Re: [Space/Thaumatology] Stargate: Fantasy - Worldbuilding thread
1996 CE. Stargate: SG1 premiered in 1997, took place one year after the first activation of the gate by the Tau'ri and subsequent destruction of Ra, and the series typically had each episode occurring around the same time as when it aired (with exceptions made for multi-episode events and the like). So, 1996 puts us right around when the gate first gets activated.

1996. Halfway between Desert Storm and 9/11 is a good place.

Poll remains open for now. 1996 looks to be winning, though. I'll close the vote and post the next question (very probably about our SGC-equivalent) some time this weekend, possibly tomorrow, so if you prefer a different year and haven't voted yet, you should.
