Mimic Power Advantage
I have a GURPS Supers game which is ultra powered, 10,000 point characters. Anyway I was wondering if you people could help me with something. I am creating a character who has the ability to copy other peoples powers. If you are a fire blaster he can copy your power exactly and become a fire blaster too. My question is this; how much would this cost?

Re: Mimic Power Advantage
The official way is to use Modular Abilities. The cost would vary depending on the ability you can duplicate.
There are other house ruled ways of doing it. I can dredge up a few threads if you're interested. |

Here's a few examples:
This is modular abilities used pretty much like you would find in the basic book: http://forums.sjgames.com/showpost.p...&postcount=681 This is an alternative that I've used and the discussion of it: http://forums.sjgames.com/showthread.php?t=135061 Here's a discussion on slotted power mimics: http://forums.sjgames.com/showthread.php?t=128617 Sylar from Powers (though he's usually a killer/thief): http://forums.sjgames.com/showthread.php?t=116922 Limitations discussion: http://forums.sjgames.com/showthread.php?t=116477 "mental" morph for ideas http://forums.sjgames.com/showthread.php?t=93603 Thoughts on modifying modular abilities since the default use is typically skills http://forums.sjgames.com/showthread.php?t=13044 Commentary on neutralize http://forums.sjgames.com/showthread.php?t=42078 Animal powered character thoughts http://forums.sjgames.com/showthread.php?p=327707 Probably others... I did a version of the Exile "Morph" (Calvin Rankin), but I can't seem to find the post.... |

Re: Mimic Power Advantage
Yeah, this is one that's been gone over a lot. My preferred version is to use Modular abilities with various enhancements and limitations.

Naloth
Thank you for your ideas and input. I run a 10,000 point campaign but I used the modular abilities. I just wanted to get more input. I like Mimic. I used modular abilities to create Reflex who is a clone of Lifeguard but she is less costly than a Mimic. I take it you run a 1000 point campaign and made Mimic able to mimic somebody entirely. This next idea is gonna cause Jack Kirby to spin in his grave. This next power is way over-powered. I also gave the Mimic Power Ability a power modifier called Nemesis which copies powers and increases them. (Nemesis Kid of the Legion of Superheroes) Nemesis 1 +20% increase costs +100%; Nemesis 2 +50% increase costs +150%; Nemesis 3 +100% costs +200%. |
