True, plenty of fodder for conspiracy theorists. Given the nature of some of the attacks, DNA from saliva will be available, along with venom in the case Chechin president Kadyrov. The panther-like mutant who tore Putin limb-from-limb filmed herself with a smartphone and emailed the video to various international news outlets. The mutant who attacked Medvedev was interrupted, so there were witnesses. Of the other three, saliva's left by fang attacks on two, but the fall from a great height could have been accomplished by a helicopter instead of a gravbender. Overall, it appears that the perpetratorss wanted the public to know that mutants did the deed.
For background, if you're interested, a Russian mutant with a specialized hypermind power, probability analysis, wanted to put questions to Answer Man. ("Are mutant powers caused by extra-terrestrial sapient beings?" and so forth.) Since Answer Man's services are on the Metamorphosis rate card (64 kilobucks, natch), he did not imagine an abduction would be necessary. When it happened, at the cost of 1 American mutant life and several Russian soldiers' lives, he concluded that residing in Russia complicated his calculations too much, and defected. Expecting even less info on Russia in his future, he simplified the equation by eliminating variables. In a way, the Russian mutant program is one of the variables he eliminated, because the Russian government will be less likely to deploy mutant assets now. That was the point of using the monsters.
