Default Animate spell questions with mainentence cost

Why does animate have a half cost to maintain? I suspect because they allow you to animate stone [x2 cost] or metal [x3 cost] which means base line you have a 1.5 maintenance. Which I guess translates to 2FP/min default... since you round up for costs?

Is that correct?

Yes. Rounding conventions are on page 9 of Characters. Rounding is the last step; carry the fractions all the way through before rounding.

Incidentally, my copy of Magic 4e says for Animate Object "Same cost to maintain", not half cost.

I think he's talking about the Necromancy spell, Animation.
