Spells & Talents
How do you guys keep track of cost of spells, how long they last, how much to renew, and what talents do? I am trying to do my characters on 3x5 index cards but am having trouble figuring out how to fit all of that info on the card. Thoughts?

Re: Spells & Talents
Hi,
One my character sheet I put write a list of all the spells the wizard knows. For each I have the following columns: Spell Name, Type, ST Cost, Duration, Notes. The notes are just functional details in short hand. I looks like this: Name Type Cost Duration Notes 3-Hex Fire C 2 12 turns 2 or 4 dmg. DX -2 if standing in fire. Summon Bear C 4+1/turn maintain summon a brown bear: ST30 DX11 Bite 2+2 Armor -2 Rope C 2 12 turns DX-2 immediate. DX-1/turn. MA/2. 3/DX to escape. Sleep T 3 hours until shaken for 2 turns or injured. MAX ST<20. Blur T 1+1/turn maintain DX -4 to strike your target I guess you would need to squeeze that on the back of your card. I prefer a full sheet of paper per character so you have room for equipment, spells, talents, weapons and so on. Looks like this web page eats all the spaces that I used to line up the columns. Re: Spells & Talents
Most spells and talents are easily memorized after a short while.
I write spells with this format: [Spell Name], [IQ][(type)], [concise description of effect/ability if helpful to have handy], [duration if not already described], [casting cost]+[maintenance cost], [page reference] like so: Breath Fire, 12 (T), show or 2 fatigue for bonus 2d T attack, costs 1/3+1, p.24I just write talents down with the talent name and page reference. |

I have a sheet that tracks turns and the phase of each turn. I check them off as the game progresses. To the right of each turn, I have notes that states which character cast timed spells and other pertinent info. It's a work in progress. |

I use this during game play: I take a dry marker monthly calendar and label it 1 to 28. Then as the game action starts, that becomes turn 1. If on turn 4 my wizard casts a fire in a hex, I note that in #4 box and then in number #17 box I note Fire goes out. If she summons a bear, I note that in the appropriate box. And each turn I note if it was renewed 1. It's also good for keeping track of wounds, fatigue and other significant turn events (like someone dying). Of course, this is a master board, so the other players are also using it for their reference.

I made a sheet that has the turns as rows and the phases of the turn as columns with a note/comments column at the end. As the phases within a turn are complete, I check them off. If someone casts a time expiring spell, I jot it down in the notes/comments for that turn. So far, so good. |
