Triplanetary: is it legal to overload on turn 2 of the takeoff-from-a-planet process?
The planetary takeoff rules require a full 3 turns to take off from a planet and leave orbit. The wording seems to exclude the possiblity of overloading on turn 2 of the process to escape orbit on that second turn.
Apparently (according to older players) this is a change from 2E, where overloading was specifically allowed: "By expending fuel, the ship may enter clockwise or counter-clockwise orbit (or otherwise maneuver as desired)." Where overloading (or even maintaining one's current position) is accounted for with "or other maneuver as desired". There's a long thread about the subtleties of the 3E rules wording over on BGG: https://www.boardgamegeek.com/thread...lasting-planet but the question boils down to: is overloading allowed on turn 2 of the takeoff process? If so, this belongs in the Triplanetary errata. |
