Rogue oysters threaten to disrupt Tokyo Olympics after officials shelled out $1 million for repairs

Worth it for the headline alone.

Quote:
Tokyo Olympic officials are closely monitoring the waterway where canoeing and rowing events are to take place for an unusual threat: rogue oysters.

[...]

An infestation first came to light during a trial event in 2019, shortly after the venue was created. Equipment floating in the water suddenly began to sink, prompting crews to investigate what was weighing them down.
Probably a Deep One protest at being excluded from aquatic events.

Your digital afterlife

Yes, digital Bond villains, but think of more mundane aspects -- digital parents that call to check on you forever (and want you to come visit), digital bosses or managers who never retire, a Supreme Court of avatars of long dead justices, and so on

Nope.

The living will quickly pull the plug.
"No way that Granny's digital scrapbook will rule my life!"
or "I have already danced on that Boomer's grave. It is my office now, and I am running the company!"

And I really doubt that "meeting" your dead beloved will be good for your mental health, so it will possibly forbidden.
And here we have a interesting but morbid black market for your cyberpunks.

I have often wished my young'un could have known her grandparents -- one died before she was born, one was alive but having serious dementia issues when she was young. Would have been interesting to be able to introduce her to virtual them in their heydays.

But you wouldn't have introduced them. You just would have showed some kind of high-end photo album, and the kids questions would have quickly overwhelmed (?) the algorithms.

And the digital shadows would have never baked a cake for the kids.

But maybe this is a topic for the Transhuman Space Board.

Florida Man (who else?) straps flotation devices to oversized hamster wheel, tries to walk on water to New York. Or the Bermudas.
He did not get far this time, but he will surely try it again.

So - pawn of Atlantis? Or the UFOs? A weired encounter in an ocean-punk campaign?

New warp drive solution that does not require negative mass

This is a less insane idea than the rest, but we still have no way to accelerate the space-time bubble. Still, a step closer.

All you need is a shield made of... liquid neutronium. Yeah.

Snakes Outfitted With Tiny Sensors Are Monitoring Fukushima’s Radioactivity

Radioactive cyborg snakes.

In Japan.

This won't end well.

(This marked the first time that dosimeters had been attached to wild snakes.)
I hope this means there is a team of tame dosimeter-wearing snakes ready to intervene when things go onogiri-shaped.

Diplomats were evacuated from Kabul by airlift. With bi-planes. In 1928.
The more things change, the more they stay the same.

But honestly, this is prime adventure material for your Cliffhangers of CoC campaigns. Esp. the running to the legation while carrying a generator part.
