I am currently working on a WWII (inspired by GURPS Weird War II) 1-shot adventure using TFT mechanics.

unfortunately the first set of links are 500s, but at least this one works
https://tft.brainiac.com/TFT-Traveller.pdf Unfortunately I only played Traveller once and never played GURPS. I was in German from 86-97, and when I got back there weren't much in the way of game stores like there used to be and the book stores only seems to carry D&D stuff. I will look forward though to reading the WWII adaption. |

Not sure how far off the beaten trail we are allowed here at SJ's forum, apologies in advance - however a dedicated group of TFT fans have been creating solo adventures based on the micro programmed games since 2005 at Dark City Games. The rules have been modified but still compatible. I have a few and really enjoy 'em. Anyway, the point is, they've adapted the rules for Space & Old West as well. Rules are free to download so it may point you in the right direction.

Here is a list of TFT Fan links. Some of them are non-fantasy rules/genres.

I have been having these thoughts as well.
Star Wars, use the rules as written, Jedi=Space Wizard, Light Saber=Staff... 40K/Inquisitor, again As written, though Space Marines would require some work. Though DUNE is what got me recently (rereading it right now), the only question I have is how to do Shield Belts... From my point of view is how to make a setting fit the rules as presented.

Sheld Belts would be like the Stone Skin, Iron Skin, and Diamond Skin spells (also again IMO). In some ways I would treated techie stuff similar to magical and magical items - with charges being rechargeable. |

The thing I would avoid is being too simulationist in how things would included, in that I rally don't want to break the basic scale/assumptions of the core rules.

If one would parallel canon, the light saber is crafted. A similarity would be to consider it as the Flaming Weapon magical weapon. The time to craft it could parallel the enchanting time. The output would be more dangerous extenable glow stick than a flame on a physical weapon. I think it has merit for House Rules for spaceborne genre of TFT.
