Default Silly Cars

So there have over the plenty of suggestions of silly build in Car Wars of Cars of a body type that have no Business being in Division X [the Upper divisions by small cars, though big body in low divisions has also been done]

So I have two cars for your amusement that are silly because of the type of Car but also attempting to at least trying to fit the division, both feature the Gauss Gun.

Silly AF - Division 30

Carbon-Aluminium Sub-compact Frame, Extra Heavy Chassis, Heavy Suspension, Small PC&SC Power Plant, Four Fireproof Solid Tires Only Driver, Gauss Gun, Hi-Res Single Weapon Computer, Safety Seat, Active Suspension,
Anti-Lock Brakes, No Paint Windshield, two 10 pts. Fireproof Armoured Hubs, Two 10 pts. Fireproof Wheel Guards, Fireproof Plastic Armour F 35, R 27, L 27, B 35, T 20, U 20, HC 5, Acceleration 5 MPH, Top Speed: 90 MPH, Wt. 2755 lbs., $29,958.00

Yes this car says Ram Me! I do realize that but the Armour was too light otherwise.

Pretty Silly - Division 35

Compact, Extra Heavy Chassis, Heavy Suspension, Large PC&SC Power Plant, Fireproof Solid Tires, Driver Only, Gauss Gun with Extra Magazine, Hi-Res Single Weapon Computer, Safety Seat, Active Suspension, Anti-Lock Brakes
No Paint Windshield, Surge Protector, Two 10 pts Fireproof Armoured Hubs,
Two 10 pts. Fireproof Wheel Guards, Fireproof Plastic Armour F 45, R 35, L 35, B 40, T 21, U 22, HC 4, Acceleration 10 MPH, Top Speed: 122.5 MPH, Wt. 4438 lbs., $32,048.00

I don't think this is bad per say but has short comings.

They have a CA Framed , Gas Powered , Ramplated , Div 30 'Racing' Sub in Vehicle Guide 3 . Top Speed of only 112.5 Mph and with FPRP Armour , we regarded it's inclusion in that book as a joke .

Your designs are fine for what they are . Swap around the Armour a bit - Top needs only 10pts or so unless you've a turret or playing in multiple level Arena . Same goes for Underbody , as 13-15pts is probably all you need unless your always running over mines .
Flameclouds are only weapons to regularly hit both those Facings at once & they're uncommon in Arena combat . Most you'll normally face is odd FCGS attacks & they run out of ammo very quickly .

I've got a design for a $30K Compact with a Guass Gun & Plasticore Tyres . I'll see if I can dig it out & post it .

Silliest design I can recall from early days of CW was a Van with a Turreted ATG and no Armour . More recently any of the $30K Motorcycles or $40K Subcompacts on Combat Garage Stock Vehicles can be dismissed as ridiculous , except when posted purely for comedic value . My bright yellow Paint Gun armed 'Bananamobile' Rev Trike for example ...

Behold:

Pak 43 -- Heavy Cycle w/CA Frame, Light suspension, Small Cycle power plant w/SC, 10-pt CA (Power Plant), 2 Motorcycle Heavy-Duty Radial tires, Cyclist w/BA and 10-pt CA, Anti-Tank Gun Front w/10 shots HEAT, Plastic Armor: F8, B3, Acceleration 5, Top Speed 90, HC 1, 1299 lbs., $6132

My buddy designed this years ago. But he took it to the next level when he traced the picture of the ATG from the UA catalog, then put wheels, handlebars, and a seat on it

I would add HTM $400 or HDHTM $800 onto the SILLY AF Subcompact if you can find a way...

10 accl 70 top or ... well, I've played HD as +10 or 2x, whichever is higher, so... 15 accl 60 top...

being able to boost early might be nice, eh?

I've run a few games across the past few years where I designed a base car with a few weapons options for all players to choose from; my most recent was called Caravan Craziness as we used midsized hauling sloped mini-van trailers...

$24,710-ish ($16 spread)
Midsized, med power plant with HD trans, 4x Solid SB tires, driver, "gunner" for pintle mount MG, sloped mini-van trailer with 34 pts armor and another "gunner" for pintle mount MG (pintle mounts have 180 deg arcs)

weapon choices:
1) Blast Cannon w/ HRSWC, 11pts metal and 139 pts armor
2) TL & 2x AP LG RL, 14 pts metal and 93 pts armor
3) 2x VMG w/ HRSWC 169 pts armor

4 players had fun making a mess of things

OK, not a car, but still pretty silly. A RR on a light cycle!

Wasp 150 by Swordtart
Light Cycle; Cycle chassis; Heavy suspension; 10 cid Engine; 3 gal. Hvy-Duty tank; 2 Hvy Duty OR tires. Driver. Recoilless Rifle w/10xHEAT. Tripod mount for RR. 8 pts. Plastic (F: 6 R: 0 L: 0 B: 2 T: 0 U: 0).
Cost: $3,630, Wgt: 787, HC: 2 (3 OR), Top Speed: 65, Accel: 5.

Note that the RR is a tripod weapon mounted alongside the driver. Tripod weapons take up an extra space in a crew position, so I believe that this is legal.

It's even a real thing (or as close as I can get in CW rules).

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vespa_150_TAP

With the negative modifiers for drivers firing hand weapons from a moving vehicle, this looks pretty silly, but park up and with the braced and stationary bonuses it becomes a credible threat to other similarly priced vehicles.

It doesn't have nearly enough armour (an eggshell armed with a hammer) so you'll want to keep terrain between you and any opponent, but it will be harder to hit than many targets. OR tires mean you can find a place where you are hard to get at and extract (where your low top speed won't hinder you). You also have the option of moving the RR to an entrenched position if you want to use it more conventionally (but that might hinder extraction and in CW it makes little difference).

In a small arena? - nah, it's toast :)

Add a laser scope and it might even outclass many other div 5 designs. As an ambush vehicle it is cheap and it is also suitably Heath-Robinson for a dreg biker.

In reality this was supported by a companion scooter which carried extra ammunition. On the second bike, swap out the Tripod RR for a passenger that has maxed out on Gunner skill and you have a three man fire team with a decent shoot and scoot capability. There is plenty enough weight left over for ammunition, extra hand weapons and BA for all crew so depending on your budget you could have a handy little element ideal for taking out couriers, cutting out escorts or harassing even quite well armed convoys.

I did tried make something that could work in a manner that some get behind of wheel of. I could put a machine gun and a cyberlink in the sub-compact.

In Car Wars, hand weapons carried by cycle passengers can be surprisingly effective for their cost/weight. I'd probably go for a HAVR or a man-portable RL carried by a passenger (with a laser scope) myself.

PP + driver + cycle passenger + 2x CA (cyclist, passenger) = 4 spaces

Not nearly silly enough :)

But I'd certainly consider it for the support vehicle.
