what if you fuel both magic AND extra effort with HT?
Swapping your ability to do Extra Effort w/ FP to doing it with HT is mentioned on P160/S76/Z67
Swapping your ability to do Magic w/ FP to doing it with HT is mentioned on T51 In the case of magic, basic attribute loss recovers at the same rate as an energy reserve (it says like magic-only FP, which is that Thaum calls ER (magic) from powers) In the case of Extra Effect, HT is only via repairs (like maintenance) This means for something capable of both kinds of HT payments (like an undead Lich mage) you would need to track what sort of "HT damage" you suffered from either thing, with different ways to recover from them. Do you think it would be 0pt to make magic HT costs work the same way as with machines/equipment where instead of recovering automatically it has to be repaired? The usual benefit to paying with HT is you don't have to worry about the usual FP loss side effects (Move/ST reduction at 30%) but that's not a risk associated with Energy Reserve. If you could do both it's obviously some kind of benefit (you have two energy sources, two ways to recover energy) but I don't know how you would price that. How would we define a "Special Recovery" energy reserve which allowed a "Major Repair" roll to restore 1 energy to it? Or should that already be legal by rolling a skill appropriate to an energy reserve's source? Like how you can use repairs/surgery to recover HP lost to even "Unhealing -30" characters? |
