[DF] Poisoned arrows
Greetings. I'd like to know if there's any specific rule for making poisoned arrows (time to prepare, cost, number of arrows to be imbued, etc) and which are the most effective poisons to use with them. Any idea?
(In our campaign, we're going to hunt down an archmage - with more than 1000 cp - so I think that only meteoric arrows won't be enough) EDIT: My character does 3d+8 impaling damage with his arrows and I'm looking for a ST 33 elven Long Bow for effective 4d+9 impaling damage. Feel like I'm poisoning a riffle bullet. Last edited by Carlos; 08-04-2012 at 07:10 PM. |

Re: [DF] Poisoned arrows
I would make sure to use non magical poison, as as a DM I would feel disinclided to allow magically poisoned Meteoric arrows

Re: [DF] Poisoned arrows
See GURPS Dungeon Fantasy 1, p. 28. DF8 has a few more poisons.

Bladeblack is cool (DF 1, p. 28). HT-5 or 6d damage. DF 2, p. 12, in Practical Poisoning says that the poisoner may apply two or four doses. So four doses of Bane gives -4 to HT to avoid 12d and Bladeblack gives -20 to HT to for 24d damage? And I found no rules about arrows and the amount of poison. For instance, how many arrows can a adventurer imbue with 0.5 lb of Bladeblack or Bane? |

So a bodkin arrow can't carry any poison? |

Re: [DF] Poisoned arrows
The only reason I can think of is to prevent wind resistance from blowing the poison off. But it's DF. Who's dragging in realistic physics? She is out of her element and confused.

It came down to this, if you put the poison on the arrow head you are likley to at some point prick yourself with such an arrow and poison yourself. However putting the poison on the shaft behind the head you still get the poison into the target without the safety risk to yourself. Now are you saying bodkin arrows are so terrible at penetrating that the head doesn't full penetrated into the wound? Last edited by roguebfl; 08-05-2012 at 03:21 AM. |

Re: [DF] Poisoned arrows
Does the weight of the dose include the weight of the vial? My info isn't with me.
