You're around 4,000 yards from where you started, and the sub has been moving the entire time. How will you find the sub?

Wow, we were really zooming there. How about we go back to where we started and head in the direction of the Submarine?

Retrace our path... we have the boat and sun as reference points to get started.

If it does not feel obvious Vassarious can go to back to fully blind and extend the sonar to where it was originally to put the sub back into range... it shouldn't be hard to manage either way I would think.

That sonar will put you in range... but you still have to spot the submarine, which is using the very best stealth technology and a world-class pilot to hide from exactly what you are trying*.

Go ahead and roll against Perception.

*Looking up techniques for submarines to hide is actually kind of fun. The shape and surface material of military subs reduces its visibility to sonar. The submarine can also hide near the sea floor, or in an area with odd thermal properties.

Perception

3d6 <= 14
4 + 2 + 6 = 12

(( I reversed the sign in the dice roller, so this is a success by 2.

If I need a bigger margin, I can use a destiny point... ))

If you have one to spend that's applicable, that works. You don't have any generic ones, but it looks like "Hunter!" is applicable. What's the score on your wildcard points?

The Sub is equipped with top of the art sonar stealth and the captain knows what he is doing, but this is not Vassarious's first time hunting elusive prey in the deep ocean, and the sub told them the general way they would be running away. V is able to find the submarine and get back in it.

General Kunitane: "We have eliminated all detected enemy around the Submarine. What about you?"

Silestro: "Can I power down the protections?"

"We chased down the demons that tried to flee. They're finished now. Power off the protections if you think that wave is the end of it.

Upon boarding, Vassarious reaches out with their supernatural sense to feel for stragglers hiding in or around the sub.

Once confident the sub is no longer pursued, they will agree.

"I think that we are clear for now, and that we were able to prevent the demon from reporting our position. I recommend a course change to be safe. You may relax your efforts. Now is the time for a brief respite."

Silestro sighs in relief.

Admiral Akimori: "I'm on an evasive course already."

The next few days pass without the demons finding them again. General Kunitane arranges a ceremony where a clock indicating the "Safe Time" will strike to the celebration of on-lookers.

Silestro anticipates after the week runs out that the demons will stop streaming across the portal... but that the ones present will still need to be killed.

If they are not summoned back immediately once the time elapses, Vassarious will volunteer to assist in the cleanup. Their ability to track them would come in handy, no doubt.
