Default DF15 Use by Player

One of my players likes the standard 125pt template with the 125pt Lens. He has built a Squire + Veteran and an Archer + Veteran. The Archer he mixed with Mountain Elf.

I like the budget templates for the red shirts. I like sending them in with the fearless and over confident Torch-Bearer. Mwa Ha Ha.

I'd love to hear more stories of players choosing 125 + 125 point combos from Henchmen over 250-point templates! It would be nifty to learn of the exploits of an apprentice-gadgeteer alchemist . . . or to hear how brute-champion, initiate-champion, initiate-veteran, skirmisher-champion, and squire-champion stack up as holy warriors . . . or to see somebody ignore p. 35 and prove us wrong by going far with, say, killer-gadgeteer.

Yeah, let us know.

And I'm glad you like Bargain Henchmen. I think Sean came up with the name, while I was the one pushing for them from the start. "We need a book about torchbearers and potion drinkers!"

It looks like I may be playing in a face-to-face 125-ish point DF game, following a Paizo adventure path, Real Soon Now.

I've got a 125 point slightly-modified Skirmisher Grott (sort of a small goblin) - tweaked to be a jungle-dwelling spear wielder, not a fencer. Backpack full of monster drool, brace of poisoned javelins, comanche shield.

EDIT: I put up the character PDF and GCA file, because meh.

That sounds totally sweet. Let us know how it goes.

I'm looking forward to it. The character's going to be very nearly a Horde Pygmy and I'm looking forward to poking things, then running away screaming if they look at me funny.

I'm thinking about pitching a 150-point game, with the 125-point templates and the extra points to bring most of the nonhuman templates into reach. I'll probably also make a few 25-point lenses for human (or low cost nonhuman) characters to flesh out. Probably a selection of straight power ups for each template, and a few "multiclass" lenses.

OK, now I think I'm going to have to get a copy of this just to satisfy my curiosity. It occurs to me you could also combine the 125 point Henchmen templates with Historical Folks to get adventurers with a background - kind of give it a Warhammer vibe.

As a related aside, one of my players expressed interest in a tribal sort of character, but none of the 125 templates really clicked.

So we used Tribal Warrior and Tribal Wanderer from Lands Out of Time and sprinkled it with Barbarian until we hit 125 points. It looks like it will be fun!

That's why my Skirmisher isn't vanilla. It's basically Skirmisher with Brute sprinkled on top and some liberties taken in weapon selections.
