Default [New Release] GURPS Power-Ups 3: Talents

This is the strangest supplement we've ever released. It's all about being a bird of prey, and using your powerful claws to rip the flesh off of . . .

No, wait. This is GURPS Power-Ups 3: Talents, not GURPS Power-Ups: Talons.

That makes a big difference!

Talents are cool. Everyone can use new Talents and rules for Talents. (Talons are a bit more special-interest. I'm glad we didn't go a supplement on that!)

My apologies. Enjoy GURPS Power-Ups 3: Talents . . . it's Talented!

It's not like you couldn't do that based on Krommposts.

Just like Þorkell found SE not very useful for actual campaigns, I don't think I'll find Talents a useful PDF in mine (when I get back to GMing). But that's because if I want a new Talent, I would likely make it myself. I'm still gonna buy the PDF just because I appreciate SJG's work.

I think you might be surprised at how much of PU3 is more than just new Talents and clarifications of stuff Kromm has said on the forums. The rules for extended Talents and alternative benefits let you basically reinvent the whole concept (from existing or new Talents), the rules for job training are only somewhat related to Talents (but are included because they use similar mechanics), and so on. I'll be interested to hear what you think once you've had a chance to read the last chapter.

Sure, but it's unlikely to be earlier than Monday afternoon. The alternate benefits are a nice concept (yes, I have some idea what they are) for characters who are unlikely to have/shouldn't have/do not really benefit from reaction bonuses from them.

I'd never had a problem with the reaction bonus from Talents, but after reading PU3, I'm considering throwing it out entirely and going with the Alternative Benefit. It's just kind of awesome :)
