I'm going to use a lot of it in Desolation Road, it looks like.

Bought, printed 3 hole punched, and I'll be heading over to a local 24 hour CVS to get a binder so I can read it in bed. New pricing method for Alchemical Elixirs? :)

But we *need* that book. Rules for holding the cabaret on transparent aluminum rather than ice would be an incredibly useful model for adapting to all kinds of alternative surfaces.

I would like to point out that I prefer the term "transparent aluminium."

Just an aside:

I broke my own resolution to purchase nothing until Septermber, and I bought this book.

I have no regrets. It's fantastic. Five out of five stars.

Dressed in transparent aluminum armor, to combine the best of armor and the bulletproof nudity rules. Heavily illustrated by Phil Foglio, I assume.

...not quite. You probably already figured this out, but alchemy in Edge of Reality has essentially no overlaps with alchemy in GURPS Magic save for the name and it produces an entirely different range of products. This is "historical" alchemy which produces low-tech superscience medicine, turns lead to gold, and doesn't do much else. I suppose one might try to shoehorn magic elixirs into EoR's degrees of refinement, perhaps by working through the material costs, but magical elixir prices are essentially arbitrary anyway, so I see limited utility there.

Quick errata question:

The Air Rifle has a 1/2D range of 30 and a Max range of 400. This is inconsistent with the other pneumatic weapon (the ballista) and with most weapons in general. I suppose an air rifle could have really sucky ballistics, but is it possible that a 0 was accidentally dropped from the 1/2D range (or was added to the Max range)?

Nope, those numbers are all as intended. They're all very different sorts of weapons, so the stats are going to be different from one another. If you've got GURPS High Tech, you'll see that the air rifle in FT is reasonably comparable to the air guns there. It's fussier and less powerful, of course, but it follows a similar pattern. The steam cannon and pneumatic ballista have similar performance to...well, you'll see when Low Tech comes out, but they are consistent with similar GURPS weapons (in as much as anything is similar) at comparable TLs.

(Well, Kromm did say that it was a bit of a teaser for Low Tech...)

Indeed so. Thank you for the quick response.
