Classifying real world shields
It's often not easy to distinguish into which categories (small, medium or large as well as buckler or shield) a given real world shield should fall in GURPS.
Of course, the arrival of Cabaret Chicks on Ice will give us more accurate DR and HP stats for those types, but it does not necessarily have space to classify each and every historical shield. So, what would the forums call the following shields? Rodela/Rotella target shield. See also Rodela bucklers. Viking Shields I. 33 Metal Buckler Particularly interested in the opinions of authors and playtesters of CCoI, as to how to model those. See also this thread for styles and style perks for fighting with shields.

Re: Classifying real world shields
So the cut-off point between smaller and medium is, what? 20" or thereabouts?
I remember those being missing in the original manuscript. Obviously, metal shields would be lighter than wooden/leather shield of comparative durability. Perhaps they also ought to have superior DR, though, even if the HP is based on weight. So there is, but the description doesn't say if it is made out of metal or not.

Re: Classifying real world shields
No, I'm just trying to figure out when to treat a given real world shield as a small shield and when as a medium shield.

Re: Classifying real world shields
LT says that a small shield is not much larger than the forearm.
