Default Demons are monsters from the Id

They come from and return to the evil one on the other side of the Pentagram.

I've always been sort of fond of the "Another Fine Myth," story, from Robert Lynn Asprin - and the theory that "Demons" are simply beings from other Dimensions

I'm unclear what Henry is proposing, TBH.

If 'demons' are creatures of pure Id, fine, but what does that mean with regard to their in-game behavior?

The wizard creates rather than summons the demon.

Hence the degree of personal risk.

Also the demon only knows what the wizard knows.

OK, that is much clearer... it's an interesting idea, but I don't think that approach works when you consider the implications.

If the 'demon' is created out of the wizard’s own psyche', that means wizards can manipulate reality at an extreme level. They would essentially be granting their own wishes (assuming they can subjugate their Id).

I think I would prefer 'demons' as independent entities with their own desires and motivations. I also prefer that they exact some additional 'cost' from the summoner in order to fulfill 'wishes'.
