This gives me a mental image of a Company Combat Op wielding a cutoff saw. Few things are unwieldy, given enough strength.

Thanks for the link. Still unwieldly even with strength, but considerably less than what I was thinking.

Well, for the record, such things are included with the idea that a hunter might use one out of desperation, not that it would be his primary weapon. Chainsaws are cool and all, but in most cases, a well-made sword or axe really is better! :)

But just think of the charming ichor stains that you can get on a ceiling with a chainsaw....

What kind of character templates do you expect?
Might be cool to do a Monster Hunters Magnificient 7. Although I'm hard pressed to come up with a team that has 7 Champions who are cover a wide variety and fit the templates. Here's what I'm thinking - they need to be cinematic but not superherioc so no Superman. Flash, or Greenlantern types. I'm not a time travel fan, so no time travellers, besides it leads to constant do overs and paradoxes. I want them all to be modern era so late 1980s to presentday (2011). They don't need to absolutely already be monster humters but that's my preference. I've made a couple of exceptions in my list.

So here's my list for the Sensational Seven Monster Hunters team:
  • Angel, Inhuman/Sleuth/Warrior
  • Blade, Inhuman/Commando
  • Buffy, Warrior
  • Duncan MacLeod,
  • Harry Dresden, Witch/Sleuth with Inhuman/Sage/Witch ally Bob
  • Owen "Z" Pitt, Commando

* Note: I am willing to consider replacements of some of those listed above. Maybe replace Angel since Blade is already represents Inhuman and Harry Dresden covers Sleuth.

Here is the listing of possible templates. Since I'd like all 10 represented, some characters need to be multi-templated.
1 Commando
2 Crusader
3 Experiment
4 Inhuman
5 Psi
6 Sage
7 Sleuth
8 Techie
9 Warrior
10 Witch

Now we need Crusader, Experiment, Sage, and Techie added to the list.

Harry Dresden, Wizard. He's in the phonebook. :)

I'd toss in Christopher Chance (from the new series, not the old) up there just 'cause ya know, I'm a fan and all, he kicks much butt. Can you imagine Mark Valley's character going up against a vampire? I know I can. Yes indeedy, that rock.

Also, House, because I like this poster...

I *suppose* one could mention Anita Blake (before it became well...awful).

What about George Sans? He stopped a Vampire attempt at world domination, and
Spoiler:
He's a nerd, yes, but he manages to be kick ass with it. Not to mention his ability to be very scary with a chair.

If I could find a group, I'd do an unmasqued world - like Fringe's 'Over There', where Monster Hunter teams put down unruly non-humans.

It just makes more sense for there not to be huge cover-ups, as people are much more willing to report a werewolf attack when they won't be ridiculed.

More suggestions:

Remy Chandler, an angel who's also in the phone book (as a private investigator, not an angel).

Felix Castor, freelance exorcist.

Peter Grant, London constable and wizard-in-training. Has only mastered a few spells so far, but bright and adaptable.

James Stark, aka Sandman Slim, a natural born magician (due to being a fnord) who's been to Hell and back - literally. He was a champion pit fighter and the epitome of the maxim that what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. Hard to hurt, regenerates, hand to hand, several varieties of magic, not averse to firearms (with bullets coated in monster-killing salve), and possesses a key to the room at the crossroads of creation allowing teleportation through shadows.

Sonya Blue, action vampire chick before they were a genre unto themselves.

Charlie McGee, psi with firepower - ba dum dum.

Egon Spengler.

Alec Hardison and Eliot Spencer - package deal.
