Just checking, Allowed again?

Around two or three moths ago there was a climate change/"global Warming" thread the got heated General Chatter. It was locked and a moderator seemed to emphatically imply or say that it would be a very bad idea to start that topic up again.

Then I see these two threads in General Chatter:

The past two months I've tried to be good and not start the topic, even tho there has been amusing, dramatic, and ironic stuff in the news related to climate change /global warning.

So was the admonishment from a few months ago directed just against myself and one or two others? Or is it okay to talk about that topic again?

I fail to see how the thread I started is about Global Warming.

Things have come to a pretty pass when you can't even talk about the weather without it provoking an acrimonious political argument. Those idiots who cannot or will not refrain from posting gibes about global climate change or climate change denial whenever the weather is mentioned threaten to make civil discourse impossible.

They've been warned, as Qoltar notes.

Its not you, Þorkell, when I first started this thread - there were 3 or 4 posters in your thread headed that way - they have since edited their own posts.

As the ONLY person in that thread who has edited his posts (so far as I could see?) regarding global climate change, I am slightly miffed (not to the level of being "resentful," mind you :-) at the implication that I started the short-lived global climate change debate in that thread. :-)

It WAS a discussion about just day-to-day weather, until two posters used it as a soapbox to rail against the scientific community. And once Brett stepped in, even the responses to the two posters stopped.

So the blame for the short-lived not-so-great global climate change debate of December 2009 lies not with me. :-P :-P :-P

(If the ribbing isn't obvious, I can add more emoticons...? :-)

If not for Qoltar, I wouldn't have known that talking about Global Climate Change wasn't kosher. Even when said without acrimony, even when just talking rationally.

It could have been me that got banned! (Though I'd think not too likely. I wasn't trying to flame back, if I recall... :-)

Of course I know about the Kromm cult and all that - but praying to Mods?? Hhhmmm...

Seriously, I just sometimes have an almost photographic memory that kicks in when the caffeine products hit my brain just right.

Plus one of those "climate change" threads that got licked 2 or 3 months back was one I started, so I remembered the moderator comment.

To Kromm I only ever pray for rain.
