If we're late Medieval (for the flintlocks) then we're down to 5'5" and TFT gives 150 pounds as the average human weight (average over both genders?).

Assuming it's the same in TFT as in earlier editions of GURPS, a ST 10 male human should be 5'9", 150lb.

Can we all agree that the average human child on Cidri is well fed and disease free?

Why not? Quite a few young and slight people have worn plate armor and got around ok.

(And in TFT, the armor DX penalties and point-buy characters tend to make the weaker ones more likely to do well in armor anyway. (Since they tend to have lower DX, and adjDX below about 9 tends to make fighters fairly hopeless.))

Probably not.

Again, I know that this is an old thread, but I wanted to add what I have House Ruled for Armor & MA adjustments.

House Rules for Armor & MA
If the characters are not carrying extreme and unreasonable loads, the GM is encouraged to completely ignore weight carried and base the characters’ combat or escape running speed only on armor:

Cloth Armor -0 to MA
Leather Armor & Chainmail armor -2 to MA
Half-Plate & Full Plate armor -4 to MA

Elves have a starting MA of 12, in Leather or Chainmail their MA is 10, in Half or Full Plate it is 8. (Simple!)

The Running talent works in or out of armor.

This goes for the adults too. When was the last time you took a PC into the game that had a disease?

Yep, I did write up a back story for a character a few days ago where his wife and 1 year old son had died from a disease, so he sold his farm and joined a mercenary band. (I guess that he had immunity to that strain...)

So what limits population? It seems pretty clear something does. We need a source of mortality that rises faster than linear with population.
