Default portal question

curious on clarification here..

Quote:
The small dot on the side of a Portal link indicates the color of the
Portal on the other side.

or of emerging from either side of any matching Portal.
that means that if I have two portal links one(A) RED with a blue small dot, and one (B)yellow with a RED small dot. That I can portal from A -> B or do I flip the map and portal to the room on the reverse?

I don't get the small dot, if I can just pop up with any matching color. Is this for future use?

The small dot is for use with the cards that actually let you flip the link over, or that let you use the color on either side (such as the 3D Glasses promo card). For most purposes, you can only use the color of the Portal itself.

It means the color of the portal on the other side of the physical piece which is NOT the active Portal. You can only go to a red Portal from a red Portal, not from a red Portal to a yellow Portal with a red Portal on the reverse side of the link. Look at the graphics in the rules on page 2, especially the big map, as this should make it clear how a portal works.
