Simultaneous combat in a round in 6e
I suspect we’re playing this wrong and that its a holdover from our 2e games, but I figure I’ll ask. Since combat goes in player order around the table, if you are eliminated or have a weapon/accessory destroyed before your turn in the order comes, do you have a chance to respond when your turn in the order would come or not?
The way we’ve always played 2e was that combat was simultaneous within a phase, so you always had a chance to return fire with a weapon destroyed in that phase or with a crew member killed in that phase before the weapon or crew mwmber was gone. |

Re: Simultaneous combat in a round in 6e
In CW6e, damage takes effect immediately. Just like Melee/Wizard and very much unlike Battletech or CWC as you describe..
This is a deliberate choice in the game design. The turn sequence has movement going around the table, then firing going around the table in the same order. Going first is a significant disadvantage. It is elegantly balanced by having firing first be a significant advantage. Similarly, moving last is a significant advantage. It is elegantly balanced by firing first. The status of being first player rotates around the table, so that everyone gets a fair shot at both extremes, and the intermediate states. Clever players can even plan for when they will have "initiative", and when they will not. Moreover, on a purely vibe level, I find it adds a delightfully brutal immediacy to the proceedings. Re: Simultaneous combat in a round in 6e
Thus, there are no ties in CW6E. Everything happens in a specific sequence (e.g. in a collision, the instigator takes damage first) and since damage is immediate, someone is always eliminated before another. Many a time a car has rammed another car and eliminated themself in the process, securing the win for their target (assuming a 1v1).
