Water is not running down from the right.

Everyone is agreeable to checking out the room at the far end of the passage, but as you go forward, one of the lizards hisses defensively: It does not want you to pass.

Are they loose? If nothing else, they'll be useful for light.
A few knocks with a bone and they come loose: Arlon says they'll be useful if they get in a close fight, and wants to carry them.

"OK, so probably just wildlife."

"Hey Arlon, do you think you can zap these?"

On second thought, "Actually, can you take out most of them without zapping them?"

Arlon: "I generally use lightning. Or I animate my knives. But I don't have knives with me today. Perhaps Vassarious could move these creatures along."

Vassarious will move forward and try and shoo the creatures along as they continue, somewhat amused at his companions becoming alarmed at every living thing they come across.

V rolls Hunter to shoo the lizards away and rolls... a critical failure.

The nearest one flicks out a tongue over two yards away at V.

He can defend or not.

If it hits, it will do 1 damage and make Vassarious start glowing brightly.

Vassarious would have likely parried had they not had the premonition of the effects of the tongue strike and the fear that a parry from a natural weapon may still trigger the effect...

[SPOILER]Vassarious will do an acrobatic retreating dodge -

Acrobatics - 15

3d6
4 + 6 + 2 = 12

Retreating Acrobatic Dodge

3d6 <= 15
1 + 6 + 4 = 11 ... success

[SPOILER]

Vassarious springs back away from the tongue lashing.

"Tempestuous telegraphic treacherous tongue!"

Vassarious decides to try and scatter them with a cone of fire breath. (If they shifted that away, they'll swap it back in)

He only hits that first one, which drops from the ceiling and wriggles about (over HP damage, even on 6 damage). The other lizards scatter as he threatens now, making a threat to displace each one of them. Its slow going, but the lizards are cleared.

Then we will continue on to check out what they were so protective of!

at the end of the tunnel is a 10 by 14 oval natural cavern filled with Tall Grass (three feet tall). an indistinct glow lights the room. a stream of water flows halfway through the room before falling down a sinkhole. The stream is one yard wide. The sinkhole is about two yards wide.

Another large armadillo is rooting about in this room, much like the first.

There is a strange hint of smoke in the room.

"Oh jeez, another one?"

I decide to just shuffle over to the sinkhole to see where it goes and shuffle back.
