I didn't really expect to see anything weird that would help diagnose this, and that is what happened. Everything I could see looks like what it should.

So, I'm afraid I'm stumped on why the PDF links in Info would just not be there.

Cleaned and reinstalled GCA5 about six times.

Finally got it to work by re-pointing the pdf file lookup directory to the one actually being used. Even though it appeared that GCA5 was looking at the correct pdfs in the correct folder all the time.

So thanks for trying to figure it out.

I figured I must have installed it wrong (I have c: OS and d: Data) and confused GCA5.

Of course, after I click "Submit Reply", it will stop working...

I'm very glad you have working links again.

For the record:

Where your PDFs are installed, and if GCA knows that, should not matter at all. The links should appear in the Info pane regardless of whether you have any PDFs or not.

For example, my PDFs are stored in an esoteric location on an external hard drive. I install and reinstall GCA and wipe out my preferences so many times that my PDFs are never linked correctly in GCA these days. Links for book codes still get created in my Info pane.

GCA can create the link, and then if you click it, GCA will ask where the PDF actually is. (Note: you can turn that option off, so it may not always ask, but the link should always appear.)

You can turn off all visual indicators that there is a link. Doing that may effectively make the links not exist, but GCA still puts them there internally.

So, what you did to fix it may have fixed it coincidentally, but a folder reference is not the cause of the issue you reported--no links being created in Info.
