Bought!

I'll be so glad when I buy my ipad next month and can take all my GURPS PDFs to my gaming sessions.

No worries, I got it. And yes, it was a compliment.

So I'm right, Drama points made more generic, as befits a generic universal role playing system. Kromm, take admiration points for your seemingly unlimited ability to strip down game systems and give us the tools and insights to rebuild them to are needs.

A proper use of this system would allow a GM to have a group of characters of100pts., 400pts., 800pts., and 2,500pts., play in the same game without losing game balance. You rule Kromm!

I haven't done more than skim it yet, but I get the idea that 'polarizing' might be a good tag for it.

I keep doing a take every time I see this thread's title.

Why? The rules - like most GURPS rules - are optional.

YEs but the polarizing comment still is valid.
All that means is that he feels this is a book that people will love or hate much more then be somewhere in the middle.

True. That said, I suspect that the dividing line here is between those who like the concept of buying services with character points (and will most likely find value in the product) vs. those who don't. That is, the "hate it" crowd is most likely composed of people who have no interest in the concept, as opposed to wanting to see the concept implemented in a different way. Contrast this with the love it/hate it divide surrounding GURPS Magic: there are plenty of people who wanted "a magic system", but not this magic system.

I don't expect many complaints about Impulse Buys being "done wrong"; rather, the complaints will be more along the lines of "why did SJGames waste time producing something I have no use for?"

While I don't always want 'this magic system' in my games, I would have bought GURPS Magic nevertheless for the campaigns where I do use standard fantasy setting magic. The reason I think SJ Games really ought to republish the whole thing and offer us a chance to buy a new and useful product from them have more to do with the fact that I'd like proper editing and playtesting for my GURPS books, please.

Yeah. Kind of like how Imbuements solved a problem that I wasn't having, not that I *hate* that book.
