GCA4 vs GCS?

So on my computer GURPS Character Assistant seems to work fine. I can create characters, check them, print them, whatever. My files save as *.gca4
files.

I'm playing on online game and people are posting .gcs and .gct files and noe of them work. I get errors saying they are GCA 2 files not compatible with GCA 4. Then it tries to convert them. It fails.

I've read various messages here that didn't provide solutions. While my own characters are on an E: drive and my downloads, I have moved the downloaded characters into the GURPS Character Assistant/Characters folder in My Documents folder. Makes no difference. What seems consistent to me is that the problem files are .gcs or .gct, not .gca4.

I may not be providing enough information. Let me know which errors will provide useful troubleshooting if the above is insufficient.

Are you certain they are file for GURPS Character Assistant ?
GCS, Gurps Character sheet, is another software.

GCA file are gca4, .gdf or .gds afaik

GCA uses *.gcs files as Character Sheet scripts - that is, they are the output sheets you may choose from for printing your character file.

There is an unaffiliated freeware program called GURPS Character Sheet which used *.gcs as saved character files. GCA4 cannot read those files (and AFAIK it cannot read GCA's saved character files which are *.gca4). I do not know what *.gct files are, perhaps they're some sort of data files for that program.

Yup, *.gct are the template files for GCS.
