Today I posted the CERs ("It's a Threat!" Pyramid #3/77: Combat) for the monsters in "More Psionic Threats" in Pryamid #3/80: Fantasy Threats.

For GURPSDay, I suggest an answer to a question from here about fire-and-forget undead.

For some reason, the text isn't showing up only in the central portion with the solid background (at least on this computer's copy of Firefox); instead, it's set to the far left, with 75% of the text showing up on the more colorful background. I had to highlight the text manually in order to read it clearly.

Just a heads-up

Try the non-mobile version? Link should be fixed.

I think that I fixed all the links above that were mobile. It didn't occur to me that posting from my phone would do that, oops.

Today I talk about Santa Claus and Signature Gear. How much is too much to spend on Signature Gear?

Signature asset does note it is for 'Large' items, specifically SM+2 or more, so things like ridiculously oversized swords and combat walkers might apply, but smaller (but still oh so expensive) things like very fine, ornate, balanced, silvered edged rapiers would be a harder sell

I noticed your numbers for the Patron approach here differ from the 'Armor for points' thread

http://forums.sjgames.com/showpost.p...7&postcount=46

Quote:
The most you should ever have to pay to just get gear once is 36 points because:
Patron (Incalculable assets; Constantly; Equipment +100%, Secret* -50%, Favor x1/5) [36]
For $400k armor in a game with $1000 in starting wealth you only need [12]. Note though, this equipment doesn't have "plot protection" like Signature Gear provides.

* Your benefactor doesn't literally have to be secret here, but this limitation still effectively applies because leaving you gear to find or inherit is purely indirect aid.

EDIT: Plot protection is arguably just a +50% cosmic modifier so this suggests some caps for signature gear:

Signature Gear worth up to $1000 times starting wealth should cap at [16] points.
Up to $10000 times starting wealth should cap at [24] points.
Up to $100,000 times starting wealth should cap at [32] points.
Up to 1 million times starting wealth should cap at [40] points.
An absolute cap of [48] points for signature gear of any value.
One thing that occurs to me, since you are generalizing Signature Asset, is you could also generalize the Ally Vehicles from pg 84 of Supers, where you purchase the vehicle as Signature Gear (I personally allow it as Signature Asset) and then upgrade it from baseline as an ally! So buy your basic generic sword as a Signature Gear item, then make it a More Awesome Sword as an ally

This is definitely a topic near and dear to my heart, as it addresses the longstanding issue I personally think of as 'The Rand al'Thor Problem', how to handle this random broke farmkid with a top of the line sword?

Also I will note that I have already put this new concept into effect in my games, and a player has already used it, and so far it hasn't caused horrible apocalypse!

We even wrote it down as 'sir pudding Santa Claus sig gear' on his sheet
