Shouldn't ticking the lacks automation box change the required crew and occupancy listings?

Lacks Automation increases the number of Workspaces that systems require. Occupancy is based on the number of seats and workspaces (for short term occupancy) or cabins (for long term). Occupancy should only go up with Lacks Automation if you install no long term accommodations.

For a ship with long term accommodations it's entirely possible to design a ship with occupancy less than that necessary to actually man the ship, in which case I would expect the vessel to continually be out of commission because you have to stop to make repairs.

But I don't see a change in the number of workspaces required.

It does, and shows up in the footnotes section. It's been there since I implemented Lacks Automation in v1.20 or something.

Am I supposed to tick something else as well? It always says 36000 workspaces in design switches, features, and notes, no matter what level of automation I select. SM+17

Nope, selecting "Lacks Automation" should do it. At SM+17 I get 3,000 workspaces per system with Basic Automation and 30,000 workspaces per system with Lacks Automation. I don't know why you would get anything different.

Then it's a problem with my particular program as lacks automation still lists only 3000 per system.

Edit: It does change the HT of the ship though. Weird.

You can try e-mailing me the ship you're having trouble with so I can take a look.

I feel like an idiot. But I don't know how to attach the file to an SJG e-mail.
