Default Sad News Out Of Omaha...

...Bill Grush, one-time proprietor of "Star Realm", where New Omaha Vehicular Assn. ran its weekly games, has died.

Not certain how old he was, but he was old when I met him in the '90s; so he had a good long run.

My condolences on the death of a friend of Car Wars and your friend, 43Supporter.

May Bill's work celebrating the gaming community be honored appropriately by locals and may those who are filling grief at his passing be able to drive through the grief and know that as they carry forward in their autoduelling, Bill is there with them and not forgotten. . .

Can I get an "Amen"?

The place was very much like the description of Truck Stops in _CW_: It was "neutral ground", and one did *NOT* cross the proprietor. :)

To paraphrase a line from Mel Brooks' _To Be Or Not To Be_: "He was world-famous in Omaha." :)

Always honest; never shafted anyone on a deal; and, as noted, *no one* pulled any stunts in his place without paying dearly for such foolishness. (Most of you know what kind of wiseacre I am, and *I* wouldn't cross him....)
