To make life easier, please include one of the following tags at the start of your subject line:

WTS: Want To Sell
WTB: Want To Buy
WTT: Want To Trade
AUC: Use for an auction listing and put the end date of the auction in your subject line.

You can double up if you're flexible: WTS/T would be "I have things to sell or trade," for instance. Probably better to keep outgoing and incoming in separate posts, though.

Please make your subject lines as informative as possible, and consider breaking things into lots, posted separately, if you're offering a substantial number of items.

Finally, if you are the original poster on a thread and the sale, purchase, or trade is concluded, you can report that original post and just say that it's complete, and we can delete the thread for you. That way, we don't have old finished transactions cluttering the forum. Thanks! (This is especially true if you're posting an eBay auction or something else that's time-limited.)

Updated the first post to add the AUC tag. Auction listings should include the end date in the subject line so we can remove the thread when the auction is over.

Boosting your own thread is explicitly permitted in this forum, unlike most of the other forums on the site.

However, if you do boost your thread, please put some context in that post so people know what new information you're offering. Please only boost when you're offering or searching for new material, or adjusting prices or offers; if nothing has changed in what you're offering or searching for, don't boost the thread.
