Default Marvel Munchkin: Queue-ful of Questions

Hello all. A series of Marvel Core rules to check. Q1

~ Cap's Shield: "You cannot lose this item to traps or bad stuff." But if you get a card played on you that makes you lose items due to having to scrape up enough coins for payment/meeting a cost (ie Extremis) does Cap's Shield return to you?

Thanks in advance for the help, thanks to any and all parties involved who made this set happen. I just tricked my best friend, his wife and my 67yr old dad into tabletops because of this. It made Munchkin a 'once-a-month' game to 'a-couple-times-a-week' with me and my wife. Keep them coming, (all Munchkin, but Marvel would be great too. *CoughX-MENOwnGameCough* *CoughMoreAgentsCough* (Yeah yeah, licensing, I know, but a guy can dream.)

PS: Plz do not use "Queue-ful of Questions" as an expansion name...
PSS: Im not sure how many questions get asked about the Marvel set(s) but errata could be useful. I took some diving into the other sets' FAQ for some answers...

Edit: Sorry, "one question per thread." Will break them up into 4 separate posts.

Not officially- but here's what we do.

Trap/Curse: a card that gets turned over from the "kick down the door phase" that happens to you OR is played from another player's hand from a looting phase.

Bad Stuff: what happens when you face a monster and fail to run away either as the character or the character's helper.

If it's NOT one of these things Cap's shield can be lost.
If it IS one of these things you cannot 'loose' Cap's shield to it- you cannot try to hock the shield if you get hit by a curse, instead, you fail to pay and suffer the extra penalty if there is one.

In the fantasy backed game there's a card 'that returns no matter what' this is written differently so we treat it differently.

If the card is not a Trap (or Curse, since these cards are considered to mean the same thing), it's not the same thing as a Trap, and therefore can cause you to lose Cap's Shield.

...But the cost of items COULD be a result of Bad Stuff? Could you use Cap's Shield for payment? If so would it return?

If you want to willing discard it to pay a cost, that's different from being forced to discard it. The argument there would be whether you could even do that, but not that it would return, since that's not something that you can do with out the card being a little more specific about that kind of behavior.

Personally, I'd allow it, but I just had a really good cup of coffee, so it might be mellowing me.

There's also an obnoxious coffee card in Hipsters (as befits the set).
