Re: Children of the (Historical Folks & Action Specialist) lenses
This stuff is really great! Thanks for doing it. I like to lean on the BAT with bases like your "average" or "competent" for NPCs.* This gives me a lot more options
*My set is based on 40 points or 70 points, but splits Will and Per from IQ and prices ST at [5].

Re: Children of the (Historical Folks & Action Specialist) lenses
You're welcome. Be aware this has been evolving as I go along.
The templates were intended to create complete characters. I've been streamlining them to make them more like professional lenses, cutting back on background skills and secondary advantages. I've also tried to search for Talents matched to the main skills of a given profession and reduce options to the most efficient. The last choice may sound odd but I figure if you want something quick for NPCs there is such a thing as too many options. I'm also assuming the typical character will have a few Disadvantages. So an "Average" level NPC would have the Average base plus a Professional lens plus a few Disadvantages for a net 25-50 points. I'm planning to put together suggested Disadvantages for various groups of profession (e.g., Aristocrat, Commoner, Barbarian, Deviant, etc.) |

I, too, am enjoying the heck out of this. Especially the barber and the beggar, who warm the cockles of my Al-Qadim heart.

Re: Children of the (Historical Folks & Action Specialist) lenses
This post exists for 2 reasons...
1. To get me subscribed to the thread of course. 2. How about we simply redo Historical Folks at this point? We can credit the originals, while creating something new, as a fan-made pdf, which can be widely distributed? |

Re: Children of the (Historical Folks & Action Specialist) lenses
In a sense, this is intended as a different take on Historical Folks, working more like Delvers to Grow or Action Specialists. I'd be happy to contribute to such a project but don't have the time/energy/skills to do a really proper job of it. Which is to say more detailed text, possibly some appropriate free clip art (please no AI art) etc.

Re: Children of the (Historical Folks & Action Specialist) lenses
Three more for the day.
Commander [25 Points] Advantages: Born War-Leader 1 [5] or Charisma [5]. Skills: Administration (IQ/) [4], Leadership (IQ/A) [4], Savoir Faire (Military) (IQ/E) [2] and Teaching (IQ/A) [2]. 4 points in Tactics (IQ/H) and Strategy (IQ/H). 4 points in Diplomacy (IQ/H) and Intimidation (IQ/A). Notes: This assumes the character also has Soldier or a similar lens that includes combat skills. This also lacks Rank - a Commander should have at least Rank 2 or 3. I adopted heavily from the Command specialist lens in Action 4 as well as the old Commander template. Adding the Soldier lens out of order since it's a pre-requisite for the Commander. Soldier [25 Points] Advantages: 10 points chosen from +1 ST [10] or +1 HT [10]; increased Per [5/level] or Move [5/level]; Born War Leader [5/level]; Fearlessness [2/level] and Fit [5] Skills: 8 points in Melee or Missile Weapons. Savoir-Faire (Military) (IQ/E) [1]. Soldier (IQ/A) [2] or Tactics (IQ/H) [2]. Hiking (HT/A) [2] or Riding (DX/A) [2]. Two of First Aid/TL (IQ/E) [1]; Leadership (IQ/A) [1]; Running (HT/E) [1]; Scrounging (Per/E) [1]; Survival (any) (Per/A) [1] and Swimming (HT/E). Notes: This represents basic regular military training, possibly in a militia. Cavalry troops would likely have more training and points. Option of either Soldier or Tactics is included for games where Soldier isn’t used such as the DFRPG. and one more... Concubine [25 Points] Advantages: 10 points in Allure [5/level]; Appearance [varies]; Charisma [5/level]; Classic Features [1]; Gifted Artist [5/level]; Goodwife [5/level]; Honest Face [1]; Pitiable [5] and Social Chameleon [5]. Skills: Sex Appeal (HT/A) [4] and Carousing (HT/E) [1]. Three of Animal Handling (any) (IQ/A) [2]; Artist (Needlecraft) (IQ/H) [2]; Cooking (IQ/A) [2]; Dancing (DX/A) [2]; Gardening (IQ/E) [2]; Musical Instrument (any) (IQ/H) [2]; Professional Skill (Childcare) (IQ/A) [2]; Professional Skill (Spinning or Weaving) (DX/A) [2]; Savoir - Faire (High Society or Servant) (IQ/E) [2]; Sewing (DX/E) [2] and Singing (HT/E). Two of Administration (IQ/A) [2]; Diplomacy (IQ/H) [2]; Erotic Art (DX/A) [2]; Fast Talk (IQ/A) [2]; Politics (IQ/A) [2]; Psychology (IQ/H) [2] and Public Speaking (IQ/A) [2]. Notes: I’m assuming three skill sets for concubines - being pleasant company (Sex Appeal & Carousing), practical & artistic skills to make themselves useful to the household and social skills acquired as part of harem life. This could be an interesting background for a Thief or Bard. Default assumption is that concubines are female but a fantasy campaign might be different. Re: Children of the (Historical Folks & Action Specialist) lenses

Cook [25 Points] Advantages: 10 points chosen from Acute Taste/Smell [2/level]; Alcohol Tolerance [1]; Goodwife [5/level]; High Manual Dexterity [5/level] and Temperature Tolerance [1/level] Skills: Cooking (IQ/A) [8] and Merchant (Food) (IQ/E) [1]. Three of Administration (IQ/A) [2]; Artist (Culinary) (IQ/H) [2]; Housekeeping (IQ/E) [2]; Knife (DX/E) [2]; Merchant (M/A) [2]; Professional Skill (Butcher, Distiller, Miller, or Server) (IQ/A) [2]; Savoir - Faire (High Society or Servant) (IQ/E) [2]. I added Goodwife as an optional advantage since it includes Cooking skill. Courtesan [25 Points] Advantages: 10 points in Allure [5/level]; Appearance [varies]; Charisma [5/level]; Classic Features [1]; Gifted Artist [5/level]; Goodwife [5/level]; Resistant to Disease +3 or +8 [3 or 5]; Fashion Sense [5]; Flexibility [5]; Musical Ability [5/level]; Sensitive [5]; Social Chameleon [5]; Talker [5/level] and Voice [10] Skills: Professional Skill (Prostitute) (IQ/A) [2], Savoir-Faire (High Society or Servant) (IQ/E) [2] and Sex Appeal (HT/A) [2]. Three of Acting (IQ/A) [2]; Carousing (HT/E) [2]; Diplomacy (IQ/H) [2]; Erotic Art (DX/A) [2]; Fast - Talk (IQ/A) [2]; Make- Up/TL (IQ/E) [2] and Psychology (IQ/H) [2]. Three of Artist (Calligraphy) (IQ/H) [1]; Connoisseur (any) (IQ/A) [1]; Dancing (DX/A) [1]; Gambling (IQ/A) [1]; Games (any) (IQ/E) [1]; Literature (IQ/H) [1]; Musical Instrument (IQ/H) [1]; Performance (IQ/A) [1]; Poetry (IQ/A) [1]; Public Speaking (IQ/A) [1]; Sewing (DX/E) [1]; Singing (HT/E) [1] and Professional Skill (Spinning or Weaving) (DX/A) [1]. Notes: Many Influence Shticks such as Convincing Nod, Disarming Smile, Haughty Sneer and particularly Sexy Pose would be appropriate for Advantages. Last edited by Infornific; 03-03-2024 at 06:57 PM. Reason: Fixed typo & added Advantage to Courtesan |
