Re: What is you favorite Fantasy Setting ?
Settings i really like
Earthdawn, i like the somewhat depraved post apocalytic fantasy, but it seems like a bit to much for many poeple. Black Jewels by Anne Bishop ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Jewels_Trilogy ) But i presume the decadence present in this setting will stop it from getting a mass audience. Sadly the trilogy is missing some details so making it an rpg isnt that easy, i still hope for more details in the two other books that use the same setting. (anyone interested in gurpsifying this?) Very, very briefly. It was PBeM, it used the FUDGE version, it was far too slow, and eventually people just stopped responding to posts and the game died. We never even got out of Sigil. :^( I am completely up for another Planescape game sometime, hopefully one that lasts through an arc. Preferably GURPS, definitely realtime (IRC, MOO, face-to-face, or anything else my Mac can handle). |

Re: What is you favorite Fantasy Setting ?
Not all I love, but I love them all.
Banestorm - My first serious fantasy setting, in which I spent some of the best of my fantasy gaming years - and now part of my current-playing IW setting; Jakandor - An old AD&D setting (from the odyssey series), where the PCs are barbarians (celtic/icelandic-style) with magic-animated wooden mecha fighting a society of necromancers. The barbarianīs society is richly described, and provided a new and fun ground where my players threaded for some time; Darkover - I donīt know who has the rights, or even if itīs a good option, but the novels by Marion Zimmer Bradley have GURPS written all over it. Easy to adapat, also, although the timeline gets messed up in some points. Shannara - Even if Iīm not a big Terry Brooks fan, his Shannara series has some great ideas, specially after the druid series begins. A great setting; Discworld - Wait. What? two books already? Iron Kingdoms - like Eberron, but less epic and more victorian. Between the two, I like IK better. A shame itīs only D&D; Myth - Again?! Oh, man, I quit...

Re: What is you favorite Fantasy Setting ?
A second vote for Arcanum.
Also, the world of the Elder Scrolls game (since there's been so much information released about it not only due to the in-game setting, but also via books, scrolls, etc, in the games). |
