Re: What is you favorite Fantasy Setting ?
Not yet done officially for GURPS? Planescape, hands down. Trickier to do in an alignmentless system, but possible. Game mechanically, anyway -- the actual setting will never get anywhere near a GURPS license.
The closest I'll get will be adventuring in the Astral and the Iconic, if I can ever find a Cabal game locally or online. |

"Earthsea" is definitely a good choice.
Going in a different direction - "The War Hound and the World's Pain" |

Re: What is you favorite Fantasy Setting ?
I've seen quite a few people name Eberron. Is it that much of a good setting ? What is so special about Eberron, I kinda stopped playing D&D when they launched 3.5 (yeah, lets get rid of all my 3e books and buy new ones, forget it.). Is it that good ?

I liked the tattoo magic, but not much else. I'm not a big fan of magic/tech crossover stuff, even if it is more like steam stuff than high tech. One world that didn't occur to me before is Jade Empire. Wonderful game on X-Box.

Steve Erickson's Malazan Book of the Fallen is my favorite world .
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Malazan_Book_of_the_Fallen After reading the Ralios PDF, which was written by Robin D. Laws, Mongoose has just released for their Runequest game. I have to put Glorantha as my second favorite setting. |

Re: What is you favorite Fantasy Setting ?
I think the reason that Hakubak doesn't like Eberron is the reason I like it. Its not what you might call great literature or even a very original concept but what they have mixed together works pretty well. It also converts pretty easily to GURPS.

Frankly, I think it would be a lot better if it wasn't tied up into a lot of D&D's sacred cows.. |

Re: What is you favorite Fantasy Setting ?
I haven't read this book yet, just got it from SFBC, but it looks interesting and would work well with GURPS Age of Napoleon and GURPS Dragons:
Temeraire:In The Service of the King, by Naomi Novik. In this alternate history, European nations have been using dragons as part of their fighting forces. Obviously, the book has a Napoleonic setting. This idea fascinates me and I'm sure it would translate well. I also like Eberron from what I'm reading of it and would like to translate that into GURPS. The PC game Arcanum also has a nifty steampunk setting that would make a good pen and paper RPG.
