"I don't know that actually, but I guess it's close enough because they know me there.

Peter will spend a few hours on it, but he will also work on his book for a while. He is concentrating on spending a little time with his parents when they are home and eating all the food in the house.

Peter is walking on the road, naked, attracting a bit of attention, when soldiers ride up on their mechanical steeds.



They salute smartly: "Hail Emmissary!"


The leader asks "May we escort you to the city? And shall we get you some clothing!"


It appears the deal has gone forward in at least some capacity.

"Yes please, and thank you!"

Peter goes back to find out the status of things and lets his "people" know he was traveling home and not to the divine realms, but plans on getting an update from there soon once he's up to speed here.

He wants to put together a council of the prisoners of importance and Thuromains to help with negotiations with their homeworlds to make apologies and reparations regarding the abductions and arrangements for mutually beneficial trade going forward.

Kyridas is waiting at the city Gates when he arrives. He annouces that the deal has gone through, and that Peter is now the Emmissary!


"I'm glad you could visit home while we were negotiating... we have a lot of work to do! We've got to get you memorizing questions! This is Pirfan. He will be your coach to memorize questions and answers..."

He wants to put together a council of the prisoners of importance and Thuromains to help with negotiations with their homeworlds to make apologies and reparations regarding the abductions and arrangements for mutually beneficial trade going forward.

Peter is shown Dr. Goslin, Mr. Cardin, Mr. Patterson, and Dr. Caldwell again. Kyridas wants Peter dressed up as a priest for the meeting. They meet in a room just down the hall from where they were held together.



Mr. Patterson: "So you're not dead? Did they make you cut a deal with them? Don't tell me you're helping them!"

Peter's basic deal is unchanged. There were a bunch of negotiations between the neighboring cities, whose gods Peter cab reach, and Thuroma, whose god he can't reach. They're giving Thuroma a bunch of money and some political concessions in exchange for access to Peter.

Peter makes his acquaintance and introduces Goliath.
"I'm happy to remember what I can, but who I get to talk to in the divine realm isn't really up to me, so you will have to take what you can get."

Pirfan: "You can get something though, and its my job to make sure you can remember all the things you need to ask. We have many advanced techniques to help you, and I will organize everything so that its easier..."

Peter insists on making some modifications so that his outfit has elements of both this culture and American culture to highlight the groups coming together... He has definite opinions on the matter, and a desire to show Kyridas that Peter doesn't answer to him.

Kyridas is willing to work with him on this... though there are some funny elements he's not willing to compromise on... like the presence of a fringe on the left side.

"I'm helping everyone... and I'd like you to help me do it."

And Peter lays it all out for them...

Mr. Patterson: "So they're relying on you for access to their lost gods? that's a dangerous game you're playing. Its very good to get our freedom though. You'll need help. "



Dr. Cauldwell: "I think I can help. They need better medicine, but I haven't been able to do much without access to modern infrastructure. And this makes me feel a lot better about helping them."


Dr. Goslin: "They're thugs, and I don't want them to try their charms on me. All they wanted was weapons. And anything can be made into a weapon. Don't salve your conscience Caldwell. You know who you're helping."


Mr. Cardin: "You want us to try and normalize relations. I'll have to think about it. I don't want this to happen again. I can't decide if its a good idea or a bad one. On the one hand, they're likely to fall back on this behavior again, and it would be nice to minimize contact. On the other, trade could make them less likely to try anything violent. Have you talked to anyone on earth yet?"

Peter tries to convey to the men that he gets how dangerous this is, but it's the best way he could come up with to do the most good. He's anxious to hear their suggestions and get them all working together.

He explains that he's not from the same place as them and that there seems to be more than one "Earth" out there, and that he hasn't talked to anyone in charge on the Earth they know, and he's hoping they can help with the introductions.

Mr. Patterson: "I think I need to get back home... but I think I can help set up things on earth side. My connections could help with that. We'll need to be careful about what we send, but a flood of good cheap Iowa Corn is a great starting point: they feel the food shortage the worst"


Dr. Cauldwell: "And medicine. We need to figure out what they can give us, but food and medicine always go over well. I'm willing to work a little on this side, and I might be able to find people who are willing to work over here long term."

Dr. Goslin doesn't want to work with the idea at all. The most he will do is confirm to anyone who wants to know that Peter seems to be behind their release. He urges Peter to reconsider working with these "violent and barbaric despots".

Mr. Cardin: "I'd be interested to see what their metal production looks like. And to investigate their energy source. That could be something they give us. Also, at least for the first little bit, people will pay well for the robots. Their horse brains could be very valuable in say, self-driving cars."

Peter will try and grease the wheels with the locals to get these men (and the other prisoners) to where they want to be, whether to help or just get home.

To Dr. Gosin, he says "Are you saying I shouldn't have made a deal for them to stop raiding other worlds and release their prisoners in exchange for me running messages to their gods?

If I told them I didn't want to deal with them anymore, they would just take y'all back to a cell. That CAN'T be what you think I should do.

I don't wanna do this forever! If they have good trade with their neighbors, they won't attack them when I leave. So I figured that we should find a way to make stuff better for everybody and maybe things won't be as violent and savage after. How would you have me handle it? I actually think I'm doing pret-ty good here! Aren't I boy?"

The great beast of a dog lets out a great "Roough" with a hop of his front legs punctuating Peter's declaration patting himself on the back.

Peter also brings up the subject of his education...

"And while we're figuring out people for here or there... I could use a teacher to help me catch up on my American education while I'm stuck over here."

And asks if they can get him a few creature comforts, like Earth under-clothing, Doritos and Cherry Coke. A boy cannot live on grain alone.

Mr. Patterson: "we'll see. At the very least, you're getting us moved, and giving us time to figure out who these people are, and getting the people who know them best back home. Its progress. Other folks will find flaws, but its progress, and we'll figure out something from here.

Peter also brings up the subject of his education...

"And while we're figuring out people for here or there... I could use a teacher to help me catch up on my American education while I'm stuck over here."

And asks if they can get him a few creature comforts, like Earth under-clothing, Doritos and Cherry Coke. A boy cannot live on grain alone.

Dr. Cauldwell promises that he'll bring some stuff on his first visit back. "It might be tricky though: the portal locations aren't terribly reliable."


Mr. Cardin: "If we're trading simple supplies, we can get them radios or phones to contact us and tell us where the nearest portal is. Then we can buy a bunch of local supplies and send it through. Or have a trucker drive all night from a warehouse in the midwest."

Peter will try and grease the wheels with the locals to get these men (and the other prisoners) to where they want to be, whether to help or just get home.

They plan to send the americans home in three batches: the "common folk" in two batches, followed by the four "aristocracy" (the four old men he's talking with). It seems they are sending the first batch now, and the next two batches after each of his next trips.
