Welcome to the Ogre video game community!
Hello everyone, it’s Jake!
I’m the Community Manager at Auroch Digital - the people making the video game adaptation of Ogre. We’re starting to get ready for the launch of Ogre on Steam, working hard to bring you the game on October 5th. We can’t wait to see what you think! If you’d like to keep tabs on the game before then, make sure to click Follow on the Steam Community Page and Wishlist the Store Page. So once again a huge “welcome” from me on behalf of the whole team, and feel free to ask any questions you might have about the game. I’ll do my best to answer them for you! |

Re: Welcome to the Ogre video game community!
Sigh. I understand the reasoning there. Mac is a small segment of the market and as a Mac and iOS developer I am well aware of those implications. I may have to "borrow" my wife's PC to play. :)
Good fortunes on the launch! |

Understandable. Well, I'll stand on the sidelines and cheer, anyway. It's nice to see a new Ogre computer game even if it won't be available for any of the platforms I use.

Hi Jake. I'm posting the announcement all over the place. :-)
Can't wait to finally get my hands on it, even if it means figuring out a PC to run it on. I know PC is the initial hit, but I'd be remiss in my duties to add my "Mac would be great" comment to the list.

Re: Welcome to the Ogre video game community!
I don't like it. I understand why, and I know that griping won't help much if at all, but Windows only effectively excludes me as well (Linux user, Android as well). I barely have time to play games at all, but having to make them work under Wine or finding a Windows system to play them on essentially makes it impossible. I hope your development path has been one where porting to other platforms is relatively simple and not a matter of starting from scratch, because I've been waiting to play this for a long time and I hope I get a chance to do so!
Thanks for being transparent about your plans (even if I don't like the answer), and I wish you nothing but success in bringing Ogre to the masses!

Re: Welcome to the Ogre video game community!
Jake,
is there a more formal place to put comments about the look of the game? One thing I noticed about the test shots is where Forest hexes are Bleeding into Town hexes. I'm not sure the graphic elements that are used for artistic effect make sense in this context. It looks fine if it's Forest next to Clear, but the misc Trees in the Town hex look odd.

Re: Welcome to the Ogre video game community!
While it is a smaller portion of the potential player base, it's still definitely good to get an impression of how many people would like to see versions on different platforms - we do take notice of it :)
Thanks for the feedback as always! |

Re: Welcome to the Ogre video game community!
Well, I've signed up for Steam, read its Wikipedia page, and followed and wishlisted the game. Presumably macOS or Linux versions would require rebuilding the game for those platforms? I'm not clear how much Steam provides for the developer.
