Default Besm > gurps

Can the designed systems for BESM be converted across to GURPS, eg vehicles from "Big Robots, Cool Starships" or "d20 Mecha"? Or, in other words, has anyone got a conversion system worked out...

OR

Are the BESM things too weird and I should just wait for the new GURPS Vehicles?

{aside to the audience} David does get around doesn't he - in the nicest way - quite prolific.

If those vehicle stats (and honestly I've played very little Tri-Stat, and nothing with vehicles, so I have no idea) can be related to real world statistics then they can be written as 4e vehicle stat blocks. None of the (non-Spaceships) vehicles currently in print were made with any formal design system.

I did a GURPS Heavy Gear conversion recently. I only mention that because D20 Mecha had some Gears in it.

And, if you want Spaceships/Starships for GURPS, I heartily recommend GURPS Spaceships written by, none other than, David L. Pulver.

That would be my take on it, too. Don't worry about the game mechanical stats at all. BESM has rules for how big something is, how many people and how much cargo it carries, how long it can operate without refueling, how big a crew it needs, and so on. Buy it as a BESM vehicle, work out its actual performance, and then give it that performance in GURPS.

Spaceships is why I'm interested in the BESM books - DLP wrote them too:)

Thank you for the replies.
