Default TFT Traveller Variant

I've just posted a revised version of my TFT Traveller rules. An official version of Traveller (Classic Traveller is best) is also required.

I really enjoyed running Classic Traveller and feel it carries over to TFT pretty well. Both are nicely streamlined for "lets make a character and play right now" sessions.

I tried GM'ing classic Traveller back in the 80's. I quickly started importing various rules from TFT, because I could not stand the absence of things that seemed vital to me.

Interestingly, Marc Miller, in his private Traveller games, uses an unofficial 2d6 roll-under-attribute mechanic a LOT. Of course, is it “unofficial” when the designer does it?

I had good results with TFT Traveller. The version I posted is somewhat expanded from my original system.

T5 uses a "multiple d6 increased by difficulty" resolution system that I found very familiar.

Re the recent request in the main forum for TFT Traveller.

The site above is not currently responding. But related material is available in the link below, including new skills, mustering out, and some high-tech combat rules. Looks like a great place to start.

Ty Beard the author notes these were created back in 1982, revised in 1998 :)

There's another fan TFT-Traveller rules set here: https://forum.rpg.net/index.php?thre...r-trip.802742/ It's based off Heroes & Other Worlds, which is one of the TFT retro-clones that popped up after TFT went off the market and before SJ reclaimed the copyrights.

I like how the author recolored spells as psi powers -- it really does create a psionics feel...
