I have to agree with the other fellow. "Forced back a hex" ranges from seldom useful to actively counter productive. If you push him back a hex on your Turn and he takes a Step on his Turn you could be at 2 hexes of range on your next Attack and if you have only a 1 hex weapon your critical did him a big favor.

Even "Roll DX or fall down" would frequently do nothing.

A graduated range of results going from +1 per Die to +2 and +3 with scarcer rolls would always give the attacker something for his Crit.

Better option would be double or triple damage for calculating knockback.

Only Crushing weapons even do Knockback. That's besides the point made about not necessarily _wanting_ your enemy to get farther away from you.
