I have a version of Car Wars in a white box from 2014, 15 or 16. I think it's a version of fourth edition that came out after fifth edition had been out. Some of the tokens have numbers so I wonder if there's like a guide to them?
Or to the tokens in general, some are labeled handling or speed or cycle 6 or car 4 and so on. |

The token marked "cycle 6", etc., are for sorting out who has to select his move when -- for ex.: If Cycle 6 was moving 70 MPH, and Car 4 is moving 60, Cycle 4 would have to select its move first, so on whatever medium one is using to track "who selects move when", Cycle 4's token would be "ahead" of Car 4's. Nowadays: Most folk use handheld whiteboards, with erasable markers, or magnets -- much less susceptible to "arena hurricanes" and "arena earthquakes". .:)

I usually just used overhead pens to mark speeds on a page-protectored copy of the chart, and had players write their speed and handling (in a manner not unlike the Combat Showcase layout) on the sheet or on an index card. Also, if you want to know what vehicles are intended by each counter, most of them are in VG1. |
