I really wish I could chat on gaming and food at some point. When I get together IRL for my games we make it a whole day and we play, cook together, and more.

Fried chicken bites/nugs with dipping sauces from scratch were one of the things we loved. Also fries - you gotta have fries!

Carrots and cucumbers cut into staves and used with dip.

Before the pandemic, I was hosting a monthly session for the occult WWII game, and investing a new soup for each one. However, people have moved, sessions have to be online, and I GM half the sessions now. Inventing a soup as well as GMing is a little too much for me.

2nd on having a group that turns our every other week gaming session into a combo game, social and food gathering. I often provide some variation on venison meat. Nice being able to have organically grown low fat meat at a price about half that of store bought beef.

Be sure you know your group's preferences and allergies before inventing some new sauce, soup, main course.

You should publish your SOUP FOR GAMERS cookbook. I'd buy it! Roger Robinson or some other British fannish worthy would gladly publish it.

Soup could be allowed just about. The gamers can bring their bowls up to their muzzles and with a bib there won't be too much fuss.

But sauces? Dip? Oh hell, no! Gamers are slobs by and large (1) and should not be trusted with any food that tends to get spread about. Dry biscuits and other nibbles won't do your table and your gaming gear too much damage. Pizza can just about be allowed but make sure they have plenty of napkins.

(1) Yes, including myself! Have you seen the front of my shirt after one of Roger's barbeques?

My experience with dips in particular is that some of it may well fall off the substrate on the way from from, you should excuse me, cup to lip.

Maybe we are extremely fastidious, but that has never been a problem in my group.

This sounds like an excellent idea, drive thru rpg would not even make you print it...

Most of my group gaming for the past several years has been online, so this hasn't been much of an issue for me.

When I first started RPGing, we began a tradition that the players would buy some food for the GM. Typically, that was just a snack.

When I was getting ready to run my first GURPS campaign, my roommate and I did have players over for a meal. That was on a Sunday evening--after I spent Friday evening through Sunday afternoon getting the campaign ready. Before then, none of us had ever played GURPS.
