@ajardoor
OOC: The map looks like something of great importance. Could you share it with us?

(OC: Later. Don't have access to my computer right now, so don't have Paint. For now, your characters DO have the map and can follow it.)

Bain looks somewhat distressed by the answers of the creatures. He doesn’t want more zombies about the place, or further distraction. He also understands they’re but victims of the necromancer, and believes that building momentum will be key to Riddle of Steel’s success. Who’s the leader of the Goblins? And why are you doing this if this might lead to your destruction? It is not safe going alone. We are taking you to the woods; there are higher chances of survival over there. You can make your life away from this place, where days fade to a watercolor blur and the lakes shimmer with hope. We don’t need much in return, just one of you serving as our guide when we visit the caves*. We could heal the rest of you if you decide to accompany us, we also know of a spot you could use. Our friend here is great at building fortifications. Only death awaits at this place; once we wipe the scum, you can come back. * Under leadership (10:5) Hide: 3D6*→*5(1 +1 +3); this might qualify as recruitment. And for the rest of the rolls needed, could we use what we’ve already rolled plus the contextual bonuses? Bain is already taking into account that they seek a peaceful life. I guess it would be cool having an army of Hobgoblins at our service, but the idea here is having providing them with a safer home. In return, we want one of their warriors to accompany us through the caves (from experience I can tell we could use their knowledge of the place and their culture). On the other hand they can also watch the fortifications we made and provide support against the beasts we’ve been facing there.

Vic hears his comrade, but stays silent, waiting for the goblins to answer.

The hobgobins reject the offer to join the party. They agree that maybe the woods would be safer, but they refuse to let their home be completely stolen and taken over by vile undead. They would like to stay where they are currently so they can rebuild their forces and eventually launch an attack on the undead when they are weak. If the party deigns to inform them if they destroy the undead enough to make taking back their home caves viable, that would be great. The then shut their mouths, tired of talking.

Re: [DFRPG] Crawl! IC
OOC: Well, it was worth giving it a try, but even with the -5 Bain succeeded. On the other hand, if torture gives us a +6 to certain skills, I guess preventing their deaths and offering them a home would do something alike. Please let me know if this could be taken into account (and change things).
Additionally, I’ll check the contiguous room (past the door) so we can then return with knowledge of what was just ahead of us. Bain replies to the creatures with the earnest poise. This land isn’t yours; you’re paying floor to the goblins. We aren’t telling you to abandon this place, we are helping you temporarily move to a safer location, as we burn the heretics, purge the unclean and kill the mutants. The main reason the necromancer is taking advantage of all of you is because no one ever cooperates for their own good. Has it occurred to you that, by the end of the day you are considered a threat? All the people we find here is always leaving us in the same situation. If our words are going to be forced to the abyss of despair, then our steel shall carve hope on the flesh and bone of everything we face, souls will burn until its only us... Bain makes a pause, and then tells his friends to watch over the creatures. I will go ahead and check the rooms ahead. He looks at the map to find more information about the contiguous rooms, Navigation (15) 10. He prepares his camouflage 17 (9) and moves stealthily 16 (9) towards the next room assisted by Mihrimah (in case dark vision is needed). Then he looks for traps (14) 10 and threats 13 (8).

Vic sets the wounded enemies against the wall, being sure to sit them up one besides the other, and separates them from their weapons (opposite wall).

Re: [DFRPG] Crawl! IC
Bain finds the map on the sandbox does not cover this complex of caves.
But he is sure no-one the next room over could detect him, he is very stealthy. Beyond the door is a corridor, smoothed brown rock, eventually hard turning right and thus out of sight. Going down that right turn, Bain can see it comes out to a "T" junction - looking right just shows a dead end and looking left reveals the corridor goes down to another hard right turn. Bain senses no traps, but he does hear the noise of humanoids coming from that last hard right. He guesses a big room is there.

Re: [DFRPG] Crawl! IC
Vic whispers to the team
I don't even know what's the point of talking to monsters, only so that they can tell us their expletive poor little lies and expose the cowardice in their souls. It's always the same dance and song, we try to persuade them to fight for something, and they always refuse. |
