MASKS OF NYARLATHOTEP
I was wondering if anyone has tried adapting and running Chaosium's Call of Cthulhu adventure: MASKS OF NYARLATHOTEP, or any other CoC adventure for that matter?

I have not, but when I was running a Cthulhupunk game years ago, I did use some CoC things in conversion. the Cthulhupunk book has conversion notes...though it is for 3e. But maybe it would be useful nonetheless?

Re: MASKS OF NYARLATHOTEP
Thanks, I do recall looking through a copy of Cthulhupunk years ago, but like you said it's 3e...
My initial idea was to run it as a 1920's Monster Hunters game at the normal heroic PC point level and just wing it, swapping out all the SAN checks with Fright Checks...

Re: MASKS OF NYARLATHOTEP
Sounds good. The Cthulhupunk book made a distinction between regular Fright Checks and Mythos Fright Checks. Mythos Fright Checks were like regular Fright Checks except you were capped at +4 to your IQ from any sources (Strong Will, Meditation, Combat Reflexes, etc), they were made against the regular target number halved, and any Crit fail resulted in a loss of 1 Will.

Re: MASKS OF NYARLATHOTEP
I've ran several campaigns using all sorts of CoC products. Beyond the Mountains of Madness and Walker in the Wastes were both excellent adventures for my pulp GURPS approach. All you really need to do is get GURPS Horror 4e, as it is written by Ken Hite, and he knows Cthulhu very well. All the atmospheric and psychological elements of CoC are in Horror as well a templates for Cthulu-type monsters, magic, and so forth. Can't recommend it in enough. GURPS Cthulupunk is good if you want the specific future setting, but I don't think you need it in addition to GURPS Horror.

Ok, thanks! I haven't gotten a chance to look at Horror, but it sounds like a good investment with the direction my gaming group is headed.
