Good question! Looking in ISW, it appears that Merchant Rank 2 would be appropriate for the First Officer and Doctor, and Merchant Rank 3 for our Captain, unless someone has other ideas/explanations. (Which may have already been covered in backgrounds on courts martial and what not...)

Also, Merchant Rank 1 is appropriate for all Petty Officers onboard the "Hiawatha".
