As a journalist who did a little (cough cough) work, I actually have used a check/checkbook records as evidence. In fact, currently, I'm planning to (cough cough).

They are old fashioned, but some of us still use them. That's my name, damnit. I earned it and the reputation that goes with it.
Plus the longer it takes the check to get cashed, the more interest I earn. It's pennies, but pennies add up.

I still use cheques to pay for hall rental for my gaming con. It allows me to show the other volunteers that it has been paid and gives me a sense of security when I can write down that it is paid.
